Free-agent guard Gary Payton is expected to decide Tuesday whether he will accept the Lakers' mid-level exception, according to a source.

Within 24 hours, we will know for sure if one of the greatest teams in NBA history will be assembled in Laker Uni's next season. Hold your breath, and here we go...

Remember the last time we had 4 Lakers in an all-star game?? Back in 98 if I remember correctly when we had Nick, Eddie, and Shaq and Kobe... Now in 04 we're also gonna have 4, but this time, the all-star game is gonna be at Staples!! This is a dream come true!

I am not a betting man, but if I had to put $$$ on the FA situation I would have to say that we're getting Payton and Malone. Personally, I think GP will sign for a 4 year contract, up to 25 million total, LA and SA are the only places GP can get a ring. He can go for $$$ but the guy has money, and he is smarter than we give him. If he goes to portland, he loses, indiana-loses, miami-loses. Payton wants to win, he will likely sign w/ LA. I think he would like to have a S&T done, and I won't be surprised if that happens, (I hope not). Malone is a 95% chance he is w/ us, if not, he'll be in Utah.
