Well the girl's family has hired an attorney so either that means they are going to file charges or they will file a civil suit.

I believe the hiring of an attorney for the family is just to pass of questions to. Also, he is going to court for them in regards to the following:

"According to a report in the Vail Daily News, Hurlbert said he informed the alleged victim of his decision. The newspaper also reported Friday that the alleged victim's family retained a lawyer, Rob Wheeler of Georgetown, Md., who made his first appearance at Thursday's hearing at which the Vail Daily and other newspapers argued for dispatch records to the alleged victim's house."

Yes, the hiring of an attorney for the girl is not for pressing charges of sexual assault in a criminal case. The DA's office does that. It will be a tough job for them. However, they could be preparing a civil case. VERY likely.

it seems highly likely that Kobe will be charged. Now with what he is going to be charged with, I don't know. I was listening on the radio and somebody who works in Vail said that the police squad and DA out there have a history of overcharging people in crimes and then pleaing it down when it gets to the grand jury.

Apparently, Kobe's camp is gonna hold a news conference at Staples at 6 p.m.

That's an interesting statement. I suppose that's the old "aim high" motto at work in a legal forum, if that's truly the case. That way, they "default" into getting a lesser conviction.
