Ric Bucher thinks the Lakers should trade Kobe

Bucher says the Lakers have the opportunity to trade Gasol for a couple younger pieces : Lowry and Scola. Last I checked Scola is older than Gasol. Who is the second younger piece? This trade would make the Lakers worse not better. Gasol + another player for Lowry + Scola + Martin might make sense.

You don't trade Kobe. Period. The other option is trade a 1st round pick for Beasley and use the odom exception on an athletic starting caliber PG while keeping Gasol. I think the Lakers can win a championship this season with these two moves.

I don't understand how "experts" like Bucher get jobs. What passes for the press today in general is a joke.

I could really see Kobe leaving in 2 years though. There's no way we extend him @ 30 mil unless the team is contending as is.

Kobe from 2007 says hi! Says "trade me" because he didn't want the Lakers to "keep Bynum".

A ton of fans on this site and others were totally for trading Bynum for Kidd. (for the record, I was not one of them).

That's all Kobe said he was for. He wanted the Lakers to bring in players who could help him compete for titles. He didn't badmouth the city of LA, which is what Shaq did.

I have to admit, I only read the topic title before making this post but ... why is this topic 4 pages long?

I'm afraid to go back and read the first 3 pages because I'm worried that some people may have actually agreed with Bucher, and I just can't handle that level of stupidity right now. (BTW, that's not meant for anyone personally since I'm not even sure if anyone actually supported Bucher or not. But IMO, the idea of trading Kobe is a very stupid one.)

I'm glad people are posting again. I was having really bad painful NBA withdrawals during the lock-out.

There's a HUGE difference between demanding the FO to improve the team and being a classless moron and dissing the city of Los Angeles.

If Shaq can dictate where he wants to get traded, so can Kobe and he has a no-trade clause... WTF is Ric Bucher thinking? Well I've lost all respect for Bucher. That's one of the dumbest things I've heard from an analyst and just goes to show that anyone can do his job nowadays.

You can even see Hannah Storm giving him a WTF look by the end of his segment.

I wouldn't. You're talking about trading arguably the best player in basketball and a top 5 player of all time for an overrated, shoot first chucking point guard and a guy like Harden who is very good, but not great.

You're right. Its a better idea to keep Kobe for 2 years on a team that won't win a championship, then get nothing for him when he retires. Thats a great plan.

Carmello can be a great player with the right coach. He won't be the next Kobe, but he is younger and is capable of winning championships with Bynum. This deal could work for NY because they don't utilize the SF that much anyways in that system. A team with Lin, Kobe, Amare, and Chandler is pretty promising.

Westbrook needs to be moved to SG

im not saying he's kobe, but Russell this year and Kobe's 4th year are almost identical. main difference is TOs, but Russell has the ball more than kobe did

so in short, if you move russell to 2, even use harden at pg or get a decent pg, you have to do that deal
