http://www.lakersnation.com/lakers-rumors-dwight-howard-lakers-deal-rumored-for-march-1/2012/02/26/

Just heard of a rumor from L.A Times of this supposed trade going down on March 1.

Any thoughts?

My thought is that it hits a hundred pages by Tuesday and that we still won't make the trade......

Hmm, if you can get a backup PF/C, and maybe get beasley too (with the TPE), I like it.
Not a fan of nelson, but he is an improvement at the PG spot. Much rather have Howard/Turk/Reddick if you're giving up both Gasol & Bynum though.

How much better is Nelson than Fisher / Blake combo? not much, if any. So we really don't need him.

On to Hedo. Horrible.... let me rephrase that. HORRIBLE contract. He's not better than Gasol. Why do it?

Now on to Howard and Bynum. I believe Howard is better, but how much? Enough to offset the loss of Gasol? I don't think so. Is he staying or leaving? Probably leaving.

Makes no sense.

I normally don't believe a trade will ever go down if it's announced beforehand......

But then again, weird things have happened this season (CP3 veto for example)

Part of me would be sad about this deal, but the other part of me is at least comforted that we are getting Jameer.

If we could get Barbosa from Toronto, that would be cool.

I would like this IF, we really are getting Beasley for Odom Cash and signing Wallace. I think that helps our PF problem somewhat so...........

For now, just a nice rumor. Guess we'll see what happens.

Magic becomes a better team than the Lakers in that deal.

I think the rumor people have been copying and pasting people's ideas from here. :man10: As for the trade, don't like it, Nelson is undersized, his numbers are terrible this year, and every Magic game I've watched this year he hasn't looked much better than Fisher, he basically just does the same thing, pass the ball around, no real PG running the team impact out there. Turkeyglue, horrible contract, he makes Odom look consistent, but he can shoot and bring the ball up like LO could. I personally just don't like the idea, don't think it makes us much better if at all better, but then if it gets Howard to make LA his future home I guess it at least sets us up for the future. I don't believe this rumor will come true though, so it's all just 'if' discussion.

I really am 50/50 on this trade if it does go down.

On one hand, we get the future of the franchise in D12, a fairly good PG in Nelson and a serviceable PF in Turkoglu.

On the other hand, we lose our overall length.

Man does this make the Odom trade terrible if this does go through.

If I'm the Lakers, I'm asking for Anderson as well and make Orlando take a bad contract like MWP or Puke.

D12 / Hedo / Nelson for Bynum / Pau / Blake / Fisher / MWP / Luke / Kapono / Mcbobs

I think the salaries should match up.... What do you guys think?

Whoops, not the L.A. Times reporting it but the Orlando Sentinel by Brian Schmitz, their supposed "Magic insider".

I get a feeling that if this goes down, there is more to it than just the names given thus far, and/or there is other stuff in the works too.

Again, I like this...not fully....but I like it enough to say go with it, however I'd home so little stuff would help out to back up or whatever also............

I agree that numbers say Turk sucks and what not, but maybe a different coaching and set up would help.

Pau got better coming here right?

We'll see. We got till March 1st.

Rumor breaks down like this to me, would you trade Bynum for Howard, which I would. Then it's would you trade Pau for Turkeyglue and Nelson, I would not, and I laugh at the idea. From what I have seen of Nelson this year he's not much better than Fisher and that is sad, he's not exactly young either.

I suggest everyone that is for this trade look past the names involved and check the contracts of the players coming over in the trade.

Let's just say it makes MWP's and Luke's contracts look great to have.
