The State of ClubLakers“Don’t click it”. I’ve told myself that countless times after a Laker game with my mouse near Lakers Discussion, knowing that nothing good will be found. It’s like opening a Christmas present after you know you’ve been bad all year - you aren’t going to get anything good. While the Lakers are historically the most successful overall franchise in the game, the fans that currently follow are more night-and-day than a twenty four hour period. We win and all of a sudden Sasha Vujacic is the next Ray Allen. We lose and Kobe Bryant is less of a legend than LeBron James, losing his ability to be clutch after only four quarters on the hardwood. Coming strong and coming often is what ClubLakers is all about, and recently, it seems that most people are just doing the latter. Like any community, you are only as strong as your weakest link, and by not following the laws of the land and attributing meaningful contributions, the community is going to suffer. Every society has their lone village idiot, but with every passing day, it seems that the minority is becoming the majority. Overreacting to a loss or simplifying your opinions do nothing but help the negative cause. We all have the ability within us to make changes before the higher-ups of the site declare that we indeed have an epidemic on our hands. New features are considering being implemented to help patch the wound in the site that won’t stop bleeding. The cliche that the rules were meant to be broken doesn’t apply here. Though I can’t speak as a standing moderator or administrator, I can only imagine the frustration they have knowing that after a loss they are going to have to lock every new topic that surfaces. Creating more work for those that do this job for free is downright disrespectful and shouldn’t occur. Before you hit that new topic button, think about what you’re going to say, because odds are, it’s been said before and there is somewhere where you can say it again. Sound off in the Lakers Forums!
