The Trady Bunch

LOS ANGELES– With the Lakers pushing their way to the trade deadline, there have been many possibilities and plenty of names that have popped up over the past 48 hours.

In addition to the rumor of the Lakers swapping Caron Butler, Devean George and Vlade Divac for Carlos Boozer, another one has surfaced.

The Lakers reportedly may have contacted the Sacramento Kings about a possible trade. In this swap, the Lakers would give up Lamar Odom and receive small forward Peja Stojakovic and point guard Bobby Jackson. Odom has admittedly expressed that he has not played at the level he’d like to be at for the Lakers. Meanwhile, on the Kings’ side, Bobby Jackson is out for the season with a broken wrist, and Peja Stojakovic has been feeling the pain of hamstring problems as of late.

Nevertheless, they have been key players for the Sacramento Kings over the years. This season, Peja is averaging 19.7 ppg, while Bobby Jackson had been averaging 11.9 ppg off the bench before he injured himself.

A farfetched rumor has the Lakers trying to swap players for New Orleans point guard Baron Davis, but it is not likely at the moment.

All trade talk aside, the bottom line is that Laker owner Jerry Buss is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the Lakers a playoff berth. With holes at point guard and at the power forward position, it is likely that one of the Lakers’ four small forwards will be included in the deal. Buss is still somewhat early in the Laker re-building process and has a team loaded with young under-developed talent. The basketball world is eagerly anticipating his next move.

The Lakers are expected to make a deal soon; however, nothing is close to confirmed yet.

Until then, we are dealing with reported uncertainties.
