Delonte West Anyone?

For all his ability, his mind is simply not in the right place.

Besides, unless he wants the vets minimum, the Lakers don't have the money for him.

Kobe's mom looks way better than LeBron's mom, so I expect Delonte to be in Purple and Gold next season.

Contract doesn't matter to him.

The guy was packing guns like he was the terminator, we have a quota for mental cases...and we're all filled up.

After the whole Lebron's mom issue, really? Karl Malone 2.0.. He'd be all over Kobe's wife.. Or maybe even Jeannie Buss since he seems to be a fan of the cougars.. Phil aint havin it

I would rather sign Shannon for the pure fact that the team really likes him, he already has the respect of the players, and he is familiar with the triangle. With that being said, I wouldn't be too upset if the Lakers were able to get West for the vets min. Our bench would be absolutely stacked, West can score the ball, and he would definitely be able to take some of Kobe's minutes so he wasn't playing 40 a game during the regular season.

However, a team with Ron, Barnes, and Delonte? Yikes....a lot of opportunity some off court issues this season. I know PJax has dealt with questionable personalities before, but that's a ton!

This is tough.. he is a solid role player, but he has some serious issues in the head. I am not sure if the positives outweigh the possible negatives.

No. I'd prefer Brown. He knows the system, is familiar with his teammates, the coaching staff and is more athletic with size and speed. West is a tough player but his own off the court issues could be a distraction. You add him and now you have four NEW players [with Blake, Barnes, Ratliff] trying to learn the tri which is complicated.

No. Phil has had head cases at guard that he couldn't control in Isaiah "J.R." Rider and "Smush" Parker.

Phil wants someone who plays under control and plays within the offense.

There are other free agent guards available besides Delonte West in case Shannon Brown leaves.

Added to... Brown is a better finisher on the open court, could change ends faster and was on his way to polishing a reliable perimeter game prior to his thumb injury. Defensively, they are on par and comparatively shaky handles.

I wouldn't want Delonte West even if the Lakers can't keep Shannon. The risk outweighs the reward. You don't risk chemistry for a bench player... maybe for a starter, but not for a bench player.

heres what you do..

you sign him and keep him locked away from the rest of the team, thereby protecting each players wife and/or mother. then you only bring him out when we play the heat, but he doesnt play.. you have him stand on the sideline in front of the bench, and just stare at lebron the whole game.. smiling and nodding.

-Getting arrested for carrying 3 loaded guns.
-Disappearing on his team with no word
-Having family call the media cause they think he is going to kill himself
- Not being able to mentally take the day to day operation of basketball.
