Doug Christie to beccome a Laker?

Postby L.V.LAKER2004 on Mon Aug 01, 2005 3:37 pm

Rumor has it that Doug Christie wants out of Orlando and to go back to a west coast team. With the new 'amnesty' clause that is possible. So, what does anyone think about Chrisie becoming a Laker? There is a lot of bad blood, but he is a great defender and would be a great addition.
And if not Christie, why not Latrell Sprewell? He would go cheap since no one wants him and Mitch is taking so many gambles, why not this one. We know that he is also a great player and phil can work with him.

Bad, bad, bad move by the any team to pick him up.

He's always been and always will be an incredibly underwhelming and mentally deficient player.

I'm 50/50 with picking up Christie.

I used to call him turnover Doug back when he was a Laker.
But now I just think of him being a Pu$$y Whooped bball player who has a wife who follows him 24/7. He is a decent player and good defender, but I think i would get sick of him point to the sky just to shoe love to his wife everytime he does something on the floor..

About 2 years ago Doug would have been a great addition. He plays D, he's an experienced vet, hits open shots, and would have benefited in a triangle offense where he could play some off guard and sometimes the point. He'd still be a good fit but I'd prefer a quicker guard so we can stay true to our young roster.

It's not yet clear if Doug Christie will be released by the Orlando Magic via the amnesty clause or whether he'll be able to negotiate a buyout of the one year (at $8.2 million) left on his contract. What is clear, according to NBA front-office sources, is that the Christies (mandatory reference to wife Jackie) plan and hope to be in Dallas next season if Doug can extricate himself from the Magic. It remains to be seen how much Christie can still contribute after ongoing foot problems, but he's remembered in Big D for his dogged defense on Nash in more than one Sacramento-Dallas series.

of course not. Because its true so I just don´t right the same thing again. The quote button is not there because its pretty but to be used in for example those situations. I don´t care about my post account.

When Doug was a Laker we did everything we could to turn him into a point guard and it just didn't work out. He turned the ball over way too often.

Well, he's vastly improved those ballhandling skills of his, but unfortunately it's his age that's making him less of a commodity. I'm not even sure if the Kings want him anymore, quite frankly. He used to be a very complete player, with scoring, passing, rebounding, stealing, defense, athleticism, etc...but ever since his scoring went down first, all of his numbers have really taken a plunge. He's pretty much ineffective especially with his injuries, and even Orlando had a hard time meshing him into their lineup. I actually think it's a combination that Doug's heartbroken by being traded, and that he's just simply getting old. I see a more Jon Barry-like role for him in the future.

I believe you're right. I love the role that Jon Barry played though, and if Christie is ok with that role, I can see him playing several more years in the right situation. (a la Harper)

I pitty the fools who sign Doug Christie, we didn't want him when he was here before, what makes you think we want him now? We already have enough drama in the locker room unless they are planning a celebrity deathmatch battle royal.
