Earl was going to Boston on a 3 teams trade...

So are we stuck with Lue probably if mitch hurry up, and probable amnesty cuts?

By the way damn!!! Miami got way strong, I hate them but damn!!! :mad1:

I heard Earl wanted 5 yrs , and Lakers werent giving him that , I think its almost a sure thing we get Lue , I mean not to many other teams want him , and dam* those Heat. :mad1:

I wouldnt call getting A.W. getting stronger...the guy has been bouncing all over the league for a reason.. Not to mention...he has absolutely no D.

I didn't hear ANYTHING about Watson being included in that trade...

EDIT: Nevermind... but I believe it's still ALL speculation. Watson might not even be included in the new 5-TEAM trade...

The Lakers can still get Earl Watson if they sign and trade with the Grizzlies. To make it fit with LA's cap space for 2007, and make it appeal to Earl, they can overpay him far beyond his market value but only with a two year contract.

Jerry West did acquire both Slava Medvedenko and Devean George when he was still with LA. So it is conceivable that he could be interested in both given that he is looking for a big man, and has lost Wells and Posey and he need a fourth swingman to backup Battier, Miller and Jones especially with Miller always injured.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure that Earl wasn't invovled in that trade. The following is straight from BSPN:

In the largest trade in NBA history, Antoine Walker was dealt from Boston to Miami on Tuesday night in a transaction involving five teams and 13 players.

The Heat also acquired point guard Jason Williams and small forward James Posey from Memphis, while the Grizzlies received guard Eddie Jones from the Heat. The New Orleans Hornets and Utah Jazz were also involved in the deal.

The trade was larger than a 12-player, four-team deal in 2000 involving Patrick Ewing that had been the biggest in league history.

Miami also received Andre Emmett from Memphis and the draft rights to Roberto Duenas of Spain from the Hornets; Utah received Greg Ostertag from Memphis; Boston picked up Curtis Borchardt from Utah and a package -- Qyntel Woods, the draft rights to Spanish center Albert Miralles, two second-round draft picks and cash -- from Miami; New Orleans acquired Rasual Butler from Miami and Kirk Snyder from Utah; and the Grizzlies received guard Raul Lopez from the Jazz.

So, Watson is still available, now all we need to do is to convince him to take a 2 year deal. Oh well.

We are only going to get PGs that other teams dont want if we are only willing to offer 2 years. No PGs will pass up money to play with this lakers team

We need to be reasonable...their is smush, lue (possibly), anderson (if waived), dickau, and not many others...so we might have to "settle" at this position

i would like them in this order:

lue

that we should be happy we arent spending 5 years on career-long backups who will all be washed up by the end of their contracts

exactly. it's nice not having to explain myself over and over.

besides, it's an UNjerry west thing to do if he shipped out both jwill and watson. he wants to keep watson so he opted to ship jwill out first. then he brings in damon and bobby jackson and that's a solid backcourt.

quite frankly, i dont want earl watson if he wants 5 years....i'd rather take Lue, and IF D fish is released...i dont know if i like DA playing PG for us...but if he wants to be our 6th man im down for that cuz he is ideal for that role...what other PGs are out there? I guess nobody wants Payton right now and Payton is looking to start somewhere....i guess our last resort is payton?

I know I read that Watson was going to miami but during the night they reestructured the trade and included New Orleans and Utah, so Watson is still on the market...I think i would go with cheaper contracts with lue and DA.

How long is it going to take for Shaq to go into the Big Dog Needs The Ball to Guard The House routine? I'm giving it through the month of December... speaking of dogs... you can't teach an Old Dog (J-Will and Walker) new tricks... can't wait to see this all go down...

The Heat seem to be a prime candidate to teach the lesson: you can't assemble a good team without considering the way the players will interact. I've heard that Toine will come off the bench...haha. Can't wait to see that. If the lineup is Williams, Wade, Posey, Haslem, Shaq, then it's a deep team (no doubt) but it's also a team that will struggle with everyone wanting their shots and Toine needing his minutes.
