Gilbert Arenas Anyone?

Great back-up, not sure if him and Kobe can coexist, but I am sure he will come cheap.

If we don't get Paul then yes for the minimum. If we do get Paul I would like Vince for the minimum. Isn't there a waiver stipulation though that will also prevent us from picking up talent???

Stern will probably come out with some "Basketball reasons" to kill every peace that would help us to become champions, i wonder how he allowed us to sing Kapono :freak2: :jam2: man i hate so much NBA i can describe my hate!

No. But more specifically basketball reasons. To get further into my point of why I dont want him, let me say this, basketball reasons.

Keep him as far away from the Lakers as possible.

Let him go to cHeat along with Billups, Vince, RJ and every other waived player. This makes "basketball reasons" unuseable :man9:

No. Besides, he got amnestied. There's little chance he becomes available to the Lakers.

Gilbert Arenas, Delonte West... Are we building a basketball team here or a future prison line-up..?

I say yes. We need a back up for Kobe. Gilbert is a L.A. guy. There will be some re-energizing effect to coming home. Delonte is more of a risk than Gilbert in my view.

What is the rule of amnesty players? Why couldn't the Lakers get these guys?

They have to clear waivers first -- teams under the cap can bid on them. Say the nets offer him $5 mil per year. They would pay that, and Orlando would pay the rest of his contract amount, but that amount by Orlando is not against the cap or the tax if they are over the cap. the amount paid by NJ counts for them.

So not until all teams under the cap say no to not offering him anything above the vet minimum could teams over the cap (lakers) sign him for a vet minimum contract.

I can see everyone passing on guys like Gil and Baron, but not Rashard and a few others.

I also disagree for basketball reasons.

It's in the "best interests" of the team not to. From a basketball standpoint. Frankly, I'd think it'd be a travesty if we land anyone.
