jOE jOHNSON IS A FREE AGENT. HE CAN PLAY THE 1, D'S UP ones and can create his own shot. That would be agreat back court. He will demand a lot of $$, but what about sign and trade using caron, slava and #2

how about something like

Lamar Odom
Vlade Divac
Chucky Atkins

for

Steve Francis
Kelvin Cato

either odom or butler is going to be shipped out this offseason it would appear, divac is expiring for orlando, and chucky could get sent back to his first team...francis has been unhappy and cato could be a legit 4 for us...even tho francis may hog the ball a little much (understatement) with phil here he could learn some dicipline and dish it even more (already avgs 7 apg)

why orlando does it:
howard proved he has toughness, can play C in the east, and with odom and hill in the frontcourt along with him orlando becomes pretty damn good...they can keep going small ball with chucky and jameer which could be successful considering chucky is really a sg

Lakers:
Stevie
Kobe
Caron
Cato
Mihm

Magic:
Nelson
Atkins
Hill
Odom
Howard
Hindsight is 20/20

Once Phil gains his ownership, he should fulfill his quest of trading Kobe.

Successful Scenario
Due to L.A. Lakers, Orlando, and Utah being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers, Orlando, and Utah had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Lakers sign Dixon to MLE and Bobbit's and Brown's contracts.

Bender and #17 for George/Med or Cook

Roster:

Mihm/Grant/Boozer?
Boozer/Bender/Grant/Cook?/Med?
Walton/JJ/Bender?
Kobe/Francis
Francis/Vujacic/Dixon

#10 Pick
#17 Pick

Do you think this trade is a possibility?

Odom, Luke Walton(s & t), Brian Cook and Vlade Divac for Tyson Chandler (s&t) and Antonio Davis and a future second round pick.

Odom goes to a team where he can be the number 1 option. Tyson Chandler gets to go to Los Angeles.

Is this even a possibility? Comments would be highly appreciated.

How bout this...Simple yet effective

Bender Deal

Trade X for the 19th

MLe-Jaric
LLe-Dooling
Vet Min-Person

Draft Taft, Bynum, Blatch

Mihm/Bynum/Divac
Taft/Blatche/BGrant
Odom/Butler/Bender
Bryant/Jones/Person
Jaric/Dolling/Sasha

the depth and potential is scary...save Caron for a deadline trade for when teams get desperate and then try and get another all star

0. Sign coach
1. Do not resign Bobbitt or Tierre; resign Walton
2. Send George/Slava/#37 for Bender/#17

3. Buy #19 pick
4. Trade 10/19 for #6 pick
5. Draft Tiago Splitter at 6, Jarrett Jack at 17, Julius Hodge at 39
6. Sign Antonio Daniels to MLE
7. Trade Atkins, Cook, Butler for Magloire
8. Put Vujacic, Walton, Douthit on IR

PG Daniels, Jack
SG Bryant, Hodge
SF Odom, Jones
PF Splitter, Bender, Grant
C Magloire, Mihm, Divac

Please be kind. This post is, of course, an amalgamate of the more intriguing (and realistic) ideas from Draft, Trade, and Discussion boards. This is a team that could match up against anyone at the 1-2-3 spots and if Splitter is half the player he is supposed to be, with the depth we have at PF and C, we should be okay. Comparing it with this year's squad, our starters are better at PG, SF, and C spot. SG is the same guy. PF is someone who can develop. And if he doesn't work out, we have Bender and Grant to play the minutes. Plus, we can always shuffle Cs down to the PF spot. There's some decent depth, especially at big man.
