would u do the trade? who would you pick with the 10 and 18 picks?

Yes, I would do that in a heart beat. Perhaps we could trade Pierce for a good PF or three good benchers.

If you're gonna just trade Pierce for a PF once he comes here, why not JUST trade Odom for the PF in the 1st place?

Because, assuming this trade would work the Lakers would get Banks (PG, which we need) who is a great defender and we'd also get a first round draft pick. Therefore this trade would open up many possibilities. First, we could draft a big man with our pick or picks instead of having to look at PG too. Trade Pierce for a big man. Or trade pierce for a few real good role players that come off the bench because we need a better bench.

With this trade that would help us get a vet PG and get a PF. Then we can use the draft to get a Center.

Lineup

Snow
Kobe
Odom
Gooden
draft pick.

i really dislike gooden. his game makes me sad.

I think Gooden with time can become a decent roleplayer and Snow alone makes the deal a decent one for the Lakers.

What about this trade idea with Minnesota and Sacremento???

Lakers trade-Divac, Marcus D., Odom, and the #4 (if we do get it)

Minnesota trades-Garnett, Madsen, and either a future first or Cash (or both)

&

Lakers trade-Sucky, #19 or #39, and cash

Why would Minnesota trade Garnett for Odom & #4?

They should know they won´t win anytime soon and KG has A HELL OF value now. They could rebuild. But I guess Odom, Butler and 10th + x is more interesting. I doubt though Minny can afford to do that. KG is the soul of Minnesota.

Successful Scenario
Due to L.A. Lakers and Indiana being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. L.A. Lakers and Indiana had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

If we did that, we lose 3 of our bigs. That is where we need help most, and we get nothing back. I don't think draft bigs are going to cut it.

I had made this trade earlier on. Not one of the greatest in the world but, it's a thought.

Trade George 4.5, Vlade 2.5, JJ, 1.5, Walton 1

in a S&T for

Haslem give him 5 year 25 million, and DJ 5 year 20 million.

Since Miami will desperate to save money if they resign Shaq for 3 year 90 million or even if Shaq takes less and does 6 year 100 million with Wade needing a big deal within two years. I think they will be willing to part with these two if they can get some cap relief.

We can draft a PF so next year when Grant's contract is up so we can have a backup for Haslem.( we can use Gran't contract to go after Chandler so he can be our future center next year) We can use the MLE to sign us a Center and finally have Atkins sign with the LLE

I would waive off Brown and Bobbitt.

The team roster

DJ Atkins
Kobe Sasha
Odom Caron
Haslem drafted PF, Cook, Slava, possibly Douthit
Mihm MLE, Grant

One way is straight up trade Artest for Odom. If Indy would accept that then the lineup is

draft pick
kobe
Artest
MLE
Mihm

Another way is to package Caron 1 million , George 4.5, Vlade 2.5 buyout, JJ 1.5 for Artest like that but, I really doubt they want to give up Aretst for an okay player and some expiring contracts. The only way I see this working is that they are just fed up with him and want to get rid of him at all cost.

Maybe Atkins and Caron and fillers, i dunno. i do know that bird does not view artest as untouchable

Bogus trade ID # 963457

Lakers Trade:
Chucky Atkins
Caron Butler
Brian Grant
10th pick 2005 draft

Orlando Trades:
Steve Francis
Doug Christie

Reasons LA does this trade: LA gets a premier PG along with a defensive stopper off the bench. They dump Brian Grants god awful contract and take on another big contract but for someone that earns his money though. I believe Francis is that disgruntled superstar and under the Jackson II regime could learn to play within the confines of the Show-Triangle offense and bolster the best back court in the NBA...pants down.

Reasons Orlando does it: They dump bad chemistry Francis and Wife owned Christie. On top of which they get a solid backup to Jameer in Chucky Atkins, a proven guard/wing in Caron Butler, and a potential player to go at that 10th spot. Not to mention they have the eleventh. So to sum things up, they would have good young talent next year with cap space coming sooner that expected with Sir Stevie departed.

Laker lineup
PG:
Francis-Jack at #17
SG:
Kobe
SF:
Christie
PF:
Odom???(gulp)
C
Mihm
*I'm hoping a workhorse like Chris Anderson or Reggie Evans could be attained with the MLE and then we could put LO back at SF and Christie off the bench.

Magic lineup
PG
Nelson
SG:
Butler
SF:
Hill
PF:
Howard
C:
Cato
*Theyd have two lottery picks to screw around with not to mention Hedo Turkeyglue and Chucky Atkins. oh and that Brian Grant guy.

MGX wrote:Well, we all know Darko gets NO playing time on the Pistons, and seems to be an absolute waste of the #2 pick even if it was a luxury pick, because the Pistons could have had Carmelo Anthony, but still, do you think the Lakers should try and snag him?
I guess he's not a free agent or anything, but the guy is rotting on the bench. Larry Brown really seems to hate him.
I've really never seen him play, but do you think he'd be worth picking up?
The Lakers might be able to trade for him giving up next to nothing.
Isn't it a possibility?
This guy was supposed to be the next Shaq or Duncan, and look at him right now. I think maybe if he is given a chance, and with Kobe and Odom, and Phil teaching him, it could be good for Darko.

I say the Lakers try and make a move for him, give up as little as possible, and even if he is a project, work him into the game. If the Lakers could trade Devean George alone or maybe George and Sasha or something like that, you'd be crazy not to do it.
Because he is a post player isn't he?
The Lakers need a young post presence right?
It's a gamble, but just like I said about Kwame Brown, he could be worth it, maybe even more so than Kwame.
What do y'all think?

Odom is the reason we made the trade. I don't think he's going anywhere. More likely Caron.

I don't agree that we made the trade to "dump" shaq. We definitely tried to get some building pieces in return for the MDE player in the game. When you look at Caron, BG, and ODOM, Odom is definitely the best asset at this point. Yeah, I don't think he's going anywhere unless we get something pretty strong in return, but I don't see it.
