Lakers and Warriors Trade

Lakers and Warriors Trade

Postby kobe4pres08 on Tue Jun 06, 2006 2:47 am

Lakers Trade:
Mihm
McKie
Cook
#26 pick

For:
D. Fisher
M. Pietrus
#9 Pick (Sheldon Williams)

Why: Lakers get D FISH back and we know that can run the PG in the triangle and give Smush & Sasha some vet. leadership. LA also adds a yound SG/SF in Pietrus who comes cheap and still on his RC. Has a ton of upside as a great defender. With the #9 pick, Sheldon Williams looks like a great fit, cuz he is NBA ready and can easily mesh with K. Brown. This also allows Bynum to get minutes as the 1st Center off the LA bench, with Turiaf playing backup to the PF and playing some spot duty at C.

The Warriors do this trade to unload D Fish's contract, while added a solid Center to thier roster that could possible start for them and have Murphy play PF. McKie gives them some vet. presense in the locker room and Cook gives them a spot up shooter at the forward spot. All of these contracts are expiring which helps them with the cap and tax relief. Plus they still draft at #26.

Thoughts??????

Though I love D Fish 0.4, his salary would screw up our 08 plans.

Good trade, the Warriors would do this trade because they want to unload Fisher's contract, needs a solid center (Mihm) but they would do it if their pick was lower than #9. They would do it if they had a lower pick, but it all depends on draft day if they don't like the players available at the #9 pick.

As much as I love DFish, he is way overpaid right now, and not worth messing up future "star" acquisition plans.

You can only pay a difference maker that kind of dough, and it ain't him.

What about this 3 way where we wouldn't lose Kwame or Odom and we get Boozer and Fisher and Pietrus or however you spell it....

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1703~988~2433~2522~2778~2863~2796~2748~1998~267~372~539~549~1823~1997~1708~246~2173~2787&teams=13~9~9~9~9~9~9~26~9~26~26~9~9~26~26~26~13~13~26

Down side is that we would lose Bynum which would be bad but still...

Then the Lakers can get the #9 and trade the #26 so....

Get rid of Pietrus and maybe GS considers it. Also, don't like the Sheldon Williams pick. There are better players who should be at 9. (Mainly Ronnie Brewer)

They probably won't, but they could do it for cap space.

I'm all for that as well i don't see why he does not get much publicity... he is a heck of a player... 6-7 PG w/deffensive skills... has a long time to only get better and shoiuld be a very good upgrade to our current roster
