Larry Hughes

Postby echo nation on Sat Jul 22, 2006 10:18 pm

i like hughes as an individual player but im not convinced he would fit in a lineup with Kobe, Odom [who's a better player] and Radmon [who's a better shooter]

yes hughes > any of our Gs cept Kobe...

but is hughes better than Mihm + Cook + both our PGs?

He thrived alongside Gilbert Arenas...

He was leading the league in steals a couple seasons ago before injury...

He is FAST and can create his own shot. Not too good of a shooter, can be quite deadly when hot tho.

Gets alot of points off of drives and layups... good scorer...

Played very very well with the wizards.... hasnt shown up in cleveland.

He may have thrived, but the dude doesn't know how to play without thinking shoot first. He's improved dramatically since he's been injured (can't shoot in street clothes), and with LBJames being the obvious first option. This is why he's been struggling... he's forced to actually play ball without shooting. When he was with Gilbert over in Washington, both guards are nice talents there, but I noticed that Larry Hughes shot the ball whenever he wanted to. Lacks discipline and patience in offensive systems.

If he came to the Lakers, he'd be nice player. Like I said, he's better than all of our guards 'cept Kobe. And with the best coach of all time, I'm sure we can make Hughes work. He'd be more effective than Glen Rice or JR Rider were in Laker uniforms.

We used to knock Glen Rice, but he came through in the clutch. He was a much bigger part of our ring than Rider was.

And speaking of Rider.... talk about one of the biggest failures of all time. That guy had MAJOR hall of fame talent. And he threw it all away to freebase??? Unbelievable. Ooops, I'm off topic.

They could get rid of Cooky, Mihm, and maybe even Sasha

This is not where a hypothetical trade belongs.. :lock:

true this is not hypothetical, hoopsworld didn't specify who would be traded away, but did say that a larry hughes deal with L.A.L. could be coming.

Also there is no need for you to get so excited about locking threads, we are having reasonable conversation about a trade that is reportedly possible (ie a trade rumor) it is based on actual information, and if all you can do is come here and try to lock everything you see I suggest you find something else to do.

Back to Larry Hughes, I think he could get more disciplined and could be very effective with concentrating his talent through phil.

PERFECT ANOTHER THREAD WHERE WE GIVE A TEAM 2 TO 3 PIECES OF GARBAGE FOR ONE OF THIER BEST PLAYERS, DUDE LARRY HUGHES IS A 10 MILLION PER PLAYER, HE HAD ALL-STAR TYPE NUMBERS IN 04-05, WHY WOULD CLEVELAND WANT 3 PILES OF DUNG :lock:

i actually think hughes is the opposite of what we need at PG

needs the ball in his hands... can't shoot... does not have a role players mentality... and gambles too much on defence...

although i think the trade is almsot impossible for the lakers

i wouldn't be suprised if hughes is traded somwhere this summer

big contract and does not work well with lebron james... clevland played better with hughes injuried IMO...

maybe clev Gm realized it was a badsigning so they dump him for expiring contracts...

YES, BUT, WHY TAKE GARBAGE WHEN HUGHES CAN GET YOU A GOOD PLAYER IN RETURN

Because good players mixed with Lebron isn't really effective. He needs role players ie the people we would trade away. Keep in mind that huge run they had without LH

IF THEY SURROUND BRON WITH ROLE PLAYERS THEY WONT COME CLOSE TO WINNING CRAP, AND HE WILL OPT OUT IN YEAR 3, AND COME TO L.A. CLEVELAND IS NOT ABOUT TO LET THAT HAPPEN, YOU CANNOT WIN WITH 1 GREAT PLAYER, AND A BUNCH OF SCRUBS, THEY WILL USE THIER RESOURSES AND GET A SCOTTIE TO LEBRONS MJ.

whoa whoa

Hughes makes 12 mio per year and is always injured....

do you guys actually think before making a decision for a trade?

also he needs the ball in his hands and is not effective when Lamar and Kobe dominate the ball.

Who can we give up to match salaries? Will you be willing to give up Vlad and garbage for Hughes? IMO Andre Miller or Charlie Bell would be a better fit to the triangle, and Vlad's going to improve next season specially after he gets that surgery.
