Leon Powe?

Leon Powe?

If Odom is gone we can certainly look into him.

He's the only guy that I didn't hate in Boston after all. Plus he's a west coast guy, having played HS in California and college bball for the Golden Bears.

He can be a solid contributor off the bench, sharing time with DJ and J-Peezy.

If he was 100% he'd be worth a look. But, having just come off reconstructive knee surgery, we'd just be paying him to rehab for a year.

Poor choice for this team. Already have a big with knee problems don't need another bench warmer with rickety knees IMO.

Well, he doesn't exactly have much leverage in terms of contract demands.

Sign him for the vets' min and let him rehab for the first half of the season.

He'll be rehabbing his knee for most of the season, and he's already had a major knee injury in college as well so its definitely a risk. But he's a hard worker and if we can get him for cheap, there's a potential for a big reward. I think we should definitely give this guy a look.

I love Powe. I live in NorCal so I followed him in college. The guy is such a hardworker and dedicated player. The first thing he did when he got his NBA money was to take care of his brothers and sisters. This isn't some thug.

I don't know how we could get him but I like him a lot.

If we're not bringing back Odom I don't see a problem with our front office giving Powe a 1 year deal with a team option for a 2nd season provided he's healthy and ready to go. I'm just glad that he will probably never, ever suit up again for the Leprechauns.
“This contract with Joel Anthony is a testament to the man who is second to none; who has worked hard and deserved this,” said Heat President Pat Riley. “We felt that what he has done over the last couple of years in developing his game, his body and his knowledge warrants this reward. If other NBA non-drafted free agents want a prototype to follow, Joel Anthony is that man."

^^^We waited on Ronny can't see why we can't wait on a guy till Jan, say 2 yrs at vet Min, 2nd yr being team option. Couldn't hurt right? If he works out I see him being better Powell, Powell to me is more perimiter oriented, Powe seems to like playing underneath the basket something we dont have off the bench in a big sans Odom.

Because right now, we don't have enough money to spend on projects with Odom still not re-signed. If he doesn't re-sign, the little money we do have should be going towards a player who can fill in for Lamar (someone who could actually play).

I like his game and his hustle, even though he played for the evil Leprechauns. But he's probably not going to be in playing shape until the All Star Break. No team is going to pay him now and let him sit on a suit until then. Earliest I could see a team taking a gamble on him is towards Christmas.
