next year bibby can opt out of his contract. i think he would be great as much as i hate him. what do you think.

Only if he learned to play defense before he got here. D. Fish made this guy's contract by letting him burn us in the playoffs. The guy is decent but my die hard laker stance wont let me do it

I know. i am also conflicted, but the past couple years he has remained a good point guard. but then again he never did beat us so i can't hate him too much.

Bibby is an average defender, but a very good offensive talent. He would be great, but he's aging. He'll be 29 next season. That would still give us 4-5 good seasons out of him. PGs seem to have long life. Assuming we don't have the PG spot figured out by then, I'd take him for the full MLE. Would he take it? Probably not. Unless LA is REALLY one piece (him) away from being contenders.

yes, i wouldnt mind mini me. You guys need to stop being so damn critical about people's indivdual defense. Part of the reason why Bibby is viewed as such a horrible defender cause they currently have a front court who couldnt guard a fly. You could plug any other point in that team and hell have the same defensive woes. His ability to shoot from anywhere and in the clutch will be very valuble to us.

Plus wouldnt hurt to have a bibby and bryant on a team together again. :mhihi:

Do you have a link to something showing his player option? From what I can see, he's under contract with no options until 08/09. He's also making $12,500,000, $13,500,000 and $14,500,000 on a team that is very arguably better than the Lakers. I don't see why he would excercise an option or come here.

My personal opinion of him is he's a good shooter/scorer. Ice cold. Hated him with a passion when the Queens were the enemy.

And yes, he got that contract during those years where owners went a little crazy overpaying people.

i like bibby and well hes not that old. 29 isnt that bad and anyway he can be that 2nd option seeing how odom isnt that spot up shooter and it could be like kobe takes a rest then bibby would run things. not as much of a burden on kobe.plus bibby can explode on offense. he got a couple of 40 pt games this season and was a solid 20 pts throughout the season.

As the Queens fan said, Bibby is 28. But he'll be 29 when he can opt out. I can't see him leaving Sacto, where he'll be making 11 or 12m to go to LA to make 5-6m. If we could offer him $8m, and we had a great team at all other positions, it might lure him. But if all we needed was a PG and we had $8m, why would we go for Bibby?

Why wouldn't you? He is a great player that has torched us many times lol, so of course you go after him, but wether we can get him or not, or for the right price is a whole nother story.

I like his game for the most part. Before the Lakers / Queens rivalry I actually did like Bibby. However, he has a big contract which I wouldn't want the Lakers spending that money on a guy who would only be able to give us 4 good years. Next...
