Morrison/Sun/2nd for Shane Battier

Morrison/Sun/2nd for Shane Battier

Postby LAKEROC on Mon May 18, 2009 6:08 pm

I think Houston does this deal with us, if we lay it on the line. First off, Morrison is still young(24) and is regarded as one of college basketball's greatest shooters. He is also an expiring contract after next season, so if he does not produce, he can walk and they can save their cap space for someone else. Sun Yue is a good freind of Yao's from the Chinese team. He also is an expiring contract after next season, and is only 22 years old. The Rockets would also add another early 2nd round draft pick in this years draft.
Shane still has 2 years left on his deal and is almost 31 years old. I think Houston listens to us, if we propose this, due to the young talentand expiring contracts) and the 2nd rounder for Shane.

Battier is still one of the perimeter defenders in the NBA. They're not giving him up for a 2nd and expirings who are garbage.

I don't know....Morrison could really open up the offense in their lineup, and Sun would really cause some mismatches for teams at the PG/SG. He is also a very close friend of Yao Ming's, so this obviously helps team chemistry. Battier ain't exactly a spring chicken...he's getting older, and will be 31 by the start of training camp. The 2nd rounder will be Charlotte's, and that would be a early 2nd round pick. We don't know that Morrison is garbage, we just know that Phil doesn't trust him the triangle offense. However, the guy can flat out shoot the basketball.

You can say these guys "suck", but I think the deal works for both teams.

Houston's needs are depth at the big, they aren't going to look at moving one of their best perimeter defenders for two players not nearly as good as he is. Not going to happen, even if Houston wants expiring contracts, this isn't the way they'll do it.
