Pick up Troy Murphy as a back up C/PF? Expiring cont. /pros?

We know Bynum needs a back up C so Gasol can spend more time at his position PF. Murphy is going cheap form the Nets. Murphy is a lot younger than theo and smith.. We could use a 30 yr old back up big for the stretch, who knows when bynum may need time off.

He'd be a good pickup, but what could we offer them? The trade exception and Ebanks or Caracter? Does that even work salary-wise?

Can't package trade exception with a player.

He is way overpaid ... I think $11M a season. The Lakers would have to package at least two players to fit the bill and even then the Nets want young talent or an expiring in return.

With Gasol, Odom and Bynum each demands 30+ minutes a game, we won't have enough minutes for him, so no

How about the trade exception to the Bobcats for Livingston? Then trade Shannon and Smith for a serviceable big.

I'd rather pick up Matt Barnes.

I don't see what he would do for us, to be honest. And we've recently had this discussion.

He has an expiring contract and we have the leftover exceptions or whatever money from the Sasha deal. They want expiring contacts or prospects. Toss them Smith or theo, each of which are over 35-7 and never play or will and expiring and either that pick we have of brown/ebank or pray they take luke.

Murphy wont get that much next season, he is expiring, i am quite sure. He can rebound, score and space the floor by hitting 3s and midrange shots. He could space the floor for bynum or gasol and help insure size against Celts, ect with injury or foul trouble

I think he'll eventually get released. No team will trade young assets or expirings for him.

He will go to Orlando or New Orleans. In Orlando he would probably start over Bass/Anderson.
