Rajon Rondo to Lakers?

Rajon Rondo to Lakers?

Postby I Am Cornholio on Fri Dec 16, 2011 5:41 pm

The Lakers need a point guard desperately. What if we traded Pau for Rondo and Brandon Bass/Jeff Green? This would help out alot. Plus since rondo is a god awful shooter, he wouldn't compete to much with Kobe on Offense!

While it was all in pursuit of Chris Paul, the Boston Celtics' inclusion of Rajon Rondo in trade negotiations was not only surprising, but potentially damaging to the team's future.

Rondo is the lone young star on an aging Celtics team, which would imply that he is also the most coveted. However, it recently became clear that he wasn't as coveted as most, though, and despite Danny Ainge's insistence that he isn't shopping the point guard, the damage has already been done.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Boston presented New Orleans with as many as eight different trade packages for Paul. As if that wasn't enough, Chris Broussard of ESPN brought to light that the Celtics dangled Rondo to the Oklahoma City Thunder after last season, but to no avail.

Now that Paul is a member of the Clippers, the Rondo to New Orleans talk is dead, but don't be surprised if trade rumors regarding the point guard aren't. Rondo has never been one to keep his feelings in check, and he has to be feeling at least slightly frustrated.

The Celtics' willingness to include Rondo in negotiations speaks volumes about his how they see him. Boston's desire for another prolific playmaker indicates that they do not see Rondo as a pillar in which they can build around.

So, unless the Celtics wind up finding a new home for Rondo or he exhibits a willingness to be the team's Plan B, the elusive point guard stands to become very unhappy very quickly.

God no.

Rajon Rondo is one of the most overrated PGs in the game. He's a talented kid and he's a very good defender and worker, but he's not a good PG. The majority of his assists come from the sets that the Celtics run, it has very little to do with him.

He could be successful in LA too because we have the talent to make Rondo's game easy, but for his price he's not worth it.

Would I trade Lamar's TPE + a 1st Round Pick for Rondo? Hell yes.
Would I trade any package of players that does not include Kobe, Pau, or Drew? Probably.
Would I trade either Pau or Bynum for a package of Celtics players centered around Rondo? Hell no.

Rondo has heart no doubt.. but he blows. I don't want him anywhere near a Laker uniform.

Wait... what? :man3:

Rondo is a good player, really good rebounder for his size, unselfish, can play defense etc. But come on, man. Who is going to play 4 or 5 if something happens to Bynum? We have no depth anymore. If you said "offer that trade exception" plus some stuff, I'd say yes, but Pau?

:disagree:

BTW, Rondo+Kobe+Pau = good stuff. But no, we can not trade Pau for a PG. Especially one who can not shoot at all.

I don't see why the Celtics would want Gasol over Rondo+Bass, he may play as a center next to Garnett but it would make even more sense they'd prefer Bynum.

Do not want. First of all, he's a Celtic, second, guy can't shoot, cannot stretch the floor.

The day that Rondo figures out how to shoot a mid range J, off the dribble...is the day he becomes an All-Star caliber, even elite PG.

His complete lack of a shot though....makes him trivial to defend.

Rondo for Fisher and picks :jam2:

If we gave up Gasol, we'd better be getting Garnet back.

Why would Boston want Fisher. he makes Westbrook look like an all star.

And our first rounder plus dallas' first rounder. I think it's a good deal. After all we're dealing with Boston so we need to be extra stingy.

I don't mind having Rondo as the PG for the lakers. Yeah his mid range shot isn't the best but I think the lakers need desperately a PG that can penetrate and create shots for others. If this deal ever happened, I would hope that Rondo would be committed to working on his jump shot in the offseason or during practice.
