The Lakers need a point guard desperately. What if we traded Pau for Rondo and Brandon Bass/Jeff Green? This would help out alot. Plus since rondo is a god awful shooter, he wouldn't compete to much with Kobe on Offense!
While it was all in pursuit of Chris Paul, the Boston Celtics' inclusion of Rajon Rondo in trade negotiations was not only surprising, but potentially damaging to the team's future.
Rondo is the lone young star on an aging Celtics team, which would imply that he is also the most coveted. However, it recently became clear that he wasn't as coveted as most, though, and despite Danny Ainge's insistence that he isn't shopping the point guard, the damage has already been done.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Boston presented New Orleans with as many as eight different trade packages for Paul. As if that wasn't enough, Chris Broussard of ESPN brought to light that the Celtics dangled Rondo to the Oklahoma City Thunder after last season, but to no avail.
Now that Paul is a member of the Clippers, the Rondo to New Orleans talk is dead, but don't be surprised if trade rumors regarding the point guard aren't. Rondo has never been one to keep his feelings in check, and he has to be feeling at least slightly frustrated.
The Celtics' willingness to include Rondo in negotiations speaks volumes about his how they see him. Boston's desire for another prolific playmaker indicates that they do not see Rondo as a pillar in which they can build around.
So, unless the Celtics wind up finding a new home for Rondo or he exhibits a willingness to be the team's Plan B, the elusive point guard stands to become very unhappy very quickly.
