Rodney Carney would be a great signing for the Lakers

If Shannon is gone. Carney has tremendous speed and athleticism. Can guard 1's, 2's and some 3's. Has great size. Younger than Matt Barnes, better career 3pt shooter than Matt Barnes, more athletic than Matt Barnes, and cheaper than Matt Barnes. Carney and Green would add some much needed athleticism the team is currently lacking.

I hate when people talk out of their behind. How many Sixers games did watch last season? To take it further how many T-wolves games did you watch 2 years ago? I have watched in person live Carney guard Tyreke Evans, Billups, and Chris Paul. Are they Pg's? Could he do that consistently all game every game? No. Over stretches? Yes.

i have no idea what carney's FA status is (UFA or RFA) but i think if we couldn't get mike miller, carney could be a nice cheap alternative for a year or two.

not spectacular, but he wouldn't have to play heavy minutes, can generally hit an open shot, and he can't be worse than luke.

i'm sold

enough to tell you he hasn't played significant minutes defending the 1

sixers played the hornets twice this season, but only saw paul once
you can't honestly tell me they put him on cp3 when jrue/lou/iverson were covering him
carney didn't touch collison either in their second matchup.

Carney is athletic...very good defender...good finisher at the rim...decent perimeter game. He was talked about as far back as two seasons ago. Right now, it looks like Laker brass will give Ebanks the opp to make the squad. I would give him the nod over Green.

Green? No. He is athletic...but there must be something wrong with him overall if he can't latch on with any team the last two seasons. Last time I saw him was during Summer League Play with Dallas. I don't know what has happened with him since.

You might want to rethink that because we don't have that much money left remember.

wow he was my favorite college player during that year, lightning speed and crazy hops. it just sucks that he didn't have much to translate into the nba.

His talent translates to the Lakers because he is cheap and athletic. Lord knows this current team needs some speed and athleticism.

^ :man10: Such a typical offseason fan response. "He is athletic so we need him" or "the Lakers are to slow to win".

Same crap was said last year too.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

The OP should be banned for his/her screenname alone, but this topic confirms a lifetime ban,IMO.

why do we need athleticism. do you know how the triangle operates? we don't need every freaking thing on the planet to win a championship. this team had horrible free throw shooting, a horrible bench, horrible back up center, and a horrible 3 point shooting feature and we still won the championship. do we really need speed? did you not look at the thread where we are a slow team? many posters dissected the question down that speed is not an important piece in the playoffs. no speed caliber team has won a championship after show time. we don't need speed, we don't need athleticism. these two raw materials do not usually help a basketball team out that much. there are 10 players on a court, you can only go so fast without getting into anyone.

if scrub teams don't want him, how would that translate into the lakers needing him? the lakers pick up crappy players from the nbdl? i'm just curious if you're a gerald greene supporter as well. rodney carney is my favorite all time college player due to his flashy dunks and all. with that being said, he does not belong on the lakers.

THE IDEA IS ACTUALLY NOT HALF BAD, ATHLETIC ENOUGH TO BE A GOOD DEFENDER, WEATHER OR NOT HE IS I COULDNT TELL YOU DIDNT WATCH ANY 76ERS GAMES, NOT EVEN THE 2 TIMES THEY PLAYED THE LAKERS, IN THOERY SOUNDS DECENT, 6'6 ATHLETIC, GREAT FINISHER.... FOR THE VETS OR 1.8 ITS NOT A BAD IDEA

I STILL LIKE RAJA BELL IDEA BETTER BECAUSE OF HIS SHOOTING AND GRITTYNESS

I've liked Carney for awhile. Wouldn't mind him as an end of the bench guy, but I think he's redundant right now with Ariza 2.0 on the roster. He has a lot of potential and athletically has the tools to improve. Not to mention, he'd be dirt cheap. However, if we get another wing, we're getting one who can play a decent share of minutes off the bench. Right now, that's not Carney. He'd be fighting for minutes with Ebanks.

Ariza 2.0 hasn't played a second of NBA basketball. He could be Corey Hightower 2.0 for all we know. counting on him this year would be foolish. He has no offensive game at all right now. D-league bound is more likely. We need athleticism now and someone who can play right now.
