Rumor Central

Postby The Laker Link on Sat Jan 05, 2013 5:51 pm

Take it or leave it for what it is worth.

I saw this on facebook, so I can't say the rumor is trustworthy, and if this has already been posted....apologies, I didn't see it.

BREAKING NEWS! The Lakers, Celtics, and Kings are reportedly very close to a trade that would send Francisco Garcia and Demarcus Cousins to the Boston Celtics.Marcus Thorton, Chuck Hayes,Thomas Robinson, and Aaron Brooks to the Los Angeles Lakers. Pau Gasol, Avery Bradley, Jason Terry,Jared Sullinger, and two future first round picks from the Celtics to the Sacramento Kings.**The only reason the deal has not happened yet is because the Lakers are being reluctant to accept the offer.** (I got this from another page) -TwiST-

Although I don't believe this to be true, Marcus Thorton, Chuck Hayes,Thomas Robinson, and Aaron Brooks to the Lakers for Pau would be amazing.

That's a good haul for Pau but not sure about taking Thornton as the centerpiece of the deal when we have Kobe & Meeks.. Hayes & Brooks would help alot with our defensive problems.. T-Rob is a project I don't mind taking on..

Yeah, Pau couldn't be the only one going out from us, impossible trade. I'd love to see it happen though, get a great backup PG, a scorer, and 2 decent bigs, not great bigs, but Robinson has at least some potential and Hayes is a hustle guy and a bruiser.

This would definitely be the depth we need, unfortunately I cannot find any other sources besides this.

Nash/Brooks
Kobe/Thorton/Meeks
Metta/Jamison
Hill/Robinson/Hayes
Dwight/Hill

Other than it being on Facebook?

See that is why I am a little skeptical about it, since when has Facebook become a credible source?

If this is true we'd gain athleticism..... shooting..... speed and lose almost nothing based on this years production.....

Also that many people coming back would ensure that some of the trash on our bench gets a ticket to the rec. league.... so even more addition by subtraction.

That's why it's probably false, because it's too good to be true. :man10:

I prefer the trade I linked to below...I know I'm going to get crucified for this, but IMHO it makes us a better Antoni team, and a much deeper roster as well.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ag7lhyb

pg: nash / calderon / blake / djo
sg: kobe / meeks
sf: artest / kleiza / ebanks
pf: bargnani / amir johnson / jamison
c: pau / hill / sacre

I think this makes us a much more fundamentally sound team...especially at the Free Throw line. We would be a bad defensive team, but then we aren't any good now anyway...so its no sacrifice...and since Dwight is unhappy here and will trend downward while looking out the door, since he is probably leaving, at least we might as well get enough talent and depth to try to make this Antoni crap work properly for the duration of Nash's contract.
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

LOLWUT?

Forget that we can get D12 for almost realistically any player in the league outside Lebron, Durant, let's go after Bargnani.

Yeah, but this deal gives us the most Antoni friendly collection of players that will all fit into the rotation. Also, every single player we are getting is AT LEAST 70% from the free throw line, and we are replacing Dwight in the starting line-up with a 7 foot stretch 4 who shoots 82% from the free throw line.

This trade puts Pau back in his best position on the floor, makes us one of the best 3 point and free throw shooting teams in the league, and makes us one of the deepest teams in the league. It is perfect for what Antoni wants. If you can come up with a trade that saves the other team 20 million (since Dwight is leaving Toronto ASAP) and gives us rotation players at need positions while correcting our biggest weakness (lack of depth and shooting off the bench), by all means let me know...

I'm sorry, but if we traded D12 for Bargnani, Johnson, Calderon, and Linas freaking Kleiza I would completely give up on this team.

^No kidding. We'd be the laughing stock of the league, toting the softest, worst rebounding front court of all time. Can you imagine watching a PF-C combo shooting 40% from the field, plodding up and down the court, jacking up(and bricking) jump shot after another, while getting out hustled, and out muscled by every team in the league.

I might be interested in a deal with Toronto if it's for say: Gasol for Bargnani/Derozen(or Ross).

Gay would be great. Lot's of penetration, gets hot, physical, and doesn't mind diving on the ground for loose balls.

So I just saw reports on Hoopsworld that the Celtics are asking about Cousins and have released some players for what they say "might be a blockbuster deal".

Could this story have legs or are the Celtics just doing their own thing?

LOL, well done!

I would imagine the Celtics would be looking to do something significant given their current situation. The Kings, I don't know. Maybe they want to get rid of Cousins because of his attitude. I just don't know that a team that is being sold makes a deal right now, not to mention a deal that brings in an old guy with some decent skills to replace half their roster, unless they are just looking to pile up some low first round picks. It is Sacramento though, so who knows.
