I mean he is still a decent player and doesnt his contract expire in the next year or so? Maybe we can get him for the mid-level this off-season if he is a free agent. I think he would fit right in the triangle system.
Sorry if there is already a Grant Hill thread somewhere.
I don't know man, I like Grant Hill, and he's still good, but he always gets injured. And even beyond that, I heard him talk recently about how he might retire soon so that he stops before his ankle or foot gives out again, so that he can at least use it in life after basketball to play with his kids or something like that. He may not be around next year otherwise I'd say why not.
Hill is a big part of the Magic being a contender in the east. There is noway I see them trading him for anything short of a deal that makes them better. Even at his current age and health concerns, he's easily their 2nd best player. Without Hill, that team struggles to make the playoffs in the east.
Also, Hill's contract is supposed to expire in 2007. He should be able to sign with some team for MLE type money.
I would go after him with a 2 year contract. He could run the point in the triangle but I fear him guarding the other quick guards and breaking his ankle agina. The dude at his worst is better then Jalen Rose and Penny and folks were clammering for those two. At worst he is an upgrade over Smush and replaces Mckie as resident on the IR
my gut is that he will stay with orlando for as long as they want him... even taking a smaller contract (if other teams offer more). he is an extremely loyal guy and feels bad that the magic basically paid (dearly) for "damaged goods".
