Good point RT @jose_sanchez: Why wont Lakers just trade Pau for Kev, Scola, Dragnic and the pick? They were giving them up to NO anyway.

Lakers would end up giving up Pau Gasol alone and not Odom, and receiving Kevin Martin, Scola, Dragic and a 2012 1st round pick.

To me it's a far better trade than giving up Pau and Lamar for CP3.

Lakers lineup:

Fisher/Blake/Dragic/Morris
Bryant/K. Martin/Goudelock
MWP/M. Barnes/Ebanks/Walton
Scola/Odom
Bynum/Caracter

To me, that's a championship team right there; tremendous depth. Just imagine you take Kobe out for a breather and in comes Kevin Martin, a 23 ppg guy!

The Rockets were pleased with giving up those players to get Pau and clear cap room. This is a great trade!

welcome.

this was an idea already posted in the giant cp3 trade thread.

odom is still disgruntled, don't know what'll happen with him.

we still don't have cp3.

a lot of things.

It's not bad but we don't need a star 2 to back up our star 2 who eats up 35+ mpg.

Now, if Martin could play PG...or at trade him for one, maybe even package a contract with him too

i still believe this would be a better deal for the lakers than giving up gasol & odom (if not more; i understand that isn't enough for Stern to approve the deal) for CP3. this trade with the rockets would make us a very solid, experienced, efficient, DEEP team. whatever CP3 brings to the table (i know he's freaking epic) to me isn't as valuable as Scola, Kevin Martin, Dragic, and a future 1st round pick Combined. I hope Mitch is considering it.

Yes it would be better. But for some reason I have this feeling if the trade went through, we'd be making a huge pitch for Dwight Howard. It's a lot of digging, but I'm sure lots of this had to do with salaries and other complicated issues.

Don't need "cap room" for a straight trade. Just need salaries to be within a certain %. It works fine.
