To aquire Carmelo Anthony ?

If yall haven't heard the Nuggets are reportedly prepared to trade their franchise player if he doesn't sign an extension. The Nuggets don't want to be in the predicament of possibly losing Anthony in free agency next summer, where if he opts out he'd be the best free agent available.

Anthony is great friends with Lakers star and Olympic teammate Kobe Bryant. Anthony would give the Lakers a reliable 3rd option on offense, a decent defender, and a 2nd ''closer'' which would take pressure off Bryant who is the Lakers only perimeter player who gets into the lane and creates for himself and others. Anthony who is only 26 would give the Lakers a legitimate franchise player for the future. Making a deal for Anthony would put Artest (Assuming Artest isn't part of a potential deal) on the bench and give L.A some much needed scoring punch off the bench.

Yeah, i'm sure Anthony would LOVE to be the 3rd option on a team. This guy is one of the best scorers in the game.

Melo said he wants a better supporting cast. I'm sure he'll sacrifice some scoring in order to win a title.

I think it'd take Bynum + fillers. I think Bynum's stock is high right now after his gutsy performance through the playoffs. If you offer a great future to the Nuggets, they could bite.

Bynum or Gasol and I wouldn't do either.

The response to Miami's dream. Love it. Anyone who says this is a bad idea is crazy. Kobe and Fish are the best team leaders in the game. Controlling ego is not going to be an issue. Look at what Artest did this year.

Denver has a very, very good team. Coach Karl not being there in the playoffs hurt them dramatically IMO. Right now, Melo is a superstar and is just entering his prime. He's not going to sacrifice his numbers to win a championship, at least not right now. Maybe when he's over 30 and desparate he will. It's just a pipe dream.

It doesn't matter because it's not going to happen. Denver just needs to get rid of Martin (luckily fr them, he's in his last year), get some vets on the bench, maybe get a center, and get Karl back.
