And if a blockbuster type deal isn't going to go down, then Lamar and Bynum are not going to be moved.
That leaves Kwame as our biggest trade piece in making a move that might not make us instant title contenders, but improves our team.
What realistic trade scenarios with Kwame as the center-piece do you guys have in mind that will help make our team better?
I haven't really looked at multi-team trades. But, some straight up trades I thought of were:
Kwame, Farmar, and Evans for Bobby Simmons and Charlie Bell (S&T)
Bobby Simmons is a risk, he missed all of last season with ankle and foot surgeries. He makes about $9.3M this year, $9.9M next year, and $10.6 the year after that.
But, from what I remember of him, he was a really good two-way player. Over 40% from 3. 45% from the field. Over 80% from the line. Averaged about 15 ppg, 5 rpg, 3, apg, and 1spg. Could play the 2 or 3.
If he can be the player he once was, he'd be a nice 3rd option for us after Kobe and Lamar.
Alot of us had our eyes on Charlie Bell this summer. With their recent signing of Mason, we might still be able get him in a S&T with the Bucks. They could sign him for about a $3M a year contract and essentially trade him for Evans and Farmar.
Fisher, Crittenton, Sasha
Kobe, Bell
Simmons, Luke, Vlad
Lamar, Turiaf, Cook
Bynum, Mihm
I also had some trade ideas that centered around Kwame for Ricky Davis. (We couldn't get KG from Minnesota, but we might be able to get something from them after all.)
One scenario, that I actually found posted by a T-Wolves fan on RealGM, is:
Kwame, Sasha, and Evans for Davis and Jaric
I actually liked the deal. Jaric can play the 1, 2, 3. Good passer and surprisingly good defender. Davis, despite some attitude issues, is actually a great all around player. He can score, rebound, and dish. He can defend (when motivated). Shoots really good percentages.
Fisher, Farmar, Crittenton
Kobe, Jaric
Davis, Luke, Vlad
Lamar, Turiaf, Cook
Bynum, Mihm
But, my twist on that trade is:
Kwame, Farmar, and Evans for Davis, Hassell, and Madsen
Fisher, Crittenton, Sasha
Kobe, Hassell
Davis, Luke, Vlad
Lamar, Turiaf, Cook
Bynum, Mihm, Madsen
While Jaric has surprisingly good defense, Hassell was once known as a defensive stopper in this league. He has good b-ball IQ and would be great for the team.
Along with Hassell and Davis, we'd get the return of the Mad Dog
.
Him and Turiaf would be a mess out there. But, a wonderful mess.
