Young Lakers Impress In Win Over Sonics
Ronny Turiaf added 15 points and Kwame Brown scored 11 for the Lakers. Nick Collison scored 20 points for the Sonics, while Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis each added 15. Los Angeles, which trailed by as many as 12 points in the second quarter, used a 7-0 run to take a 102-95 lead with one minute to play. Seattle scored six points in a 37-second span to narrow the deficit to 102-101 with 9.8 seconds remaining. But Turiaf made two free throws with 8.2 seconds left to secure the win. Guard Luke Ridnour did not accompany the Sonics to Anaheim after injuring his right thumb in Wednesday night’s victory over Portland. X-rays were negative and team officials said Ridnour is doubtful for Sunday’s exhibition game in Chicago. Kobe Bryant of the Lakers missed his second consecutive exhibition game while recovering from offseason knee surgery. Other notes: -Andrew Bynum left the game with a “mild sprain” in his left ankle. He is listed as day-to-day. The Lakers continue the pre-season on Sunday night against the Phoenix Suns at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. As always we will have live Gameday coverage when the game tips off at 6:30 PM PST. What is your assessment of the young Lakers? How did rookie Jordan Farmar look out there? Ronny Turiaf?
